
Pine Ridge Woman Guilty of Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Jamie Lynn Eagle Bull, age 20, of Pine Ridge, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on May 8, 2012, and pleaded guilty to charges of Simple Assault and Misprison of a Felony. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 3 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. In November 2010, Eagle Bull threw a hammer that ultimately struck an infant in the head, then concealed a false statement made by another person to law enforcement about the incident. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for August 3, 2012. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing.
